The artist had a passion for photographing women, and his simple nudes have established a canon in Polish photography. Other prints of the same work are in the collection of the National Museum in Wrocław and the private collection of Joanna and Krzysztof Madelski.

Dorys was a portraitist of distinguished Warsaw figures and an advertising photographer. He was also interested in landscape, architecture and nude. He started photographing in 1914 and exhibited his work from 1927. His first individual exhibition was held in 1930. In 1929, he set up a photographic studio in Warsaw, where he photographed the greats of Polish culture and the arts and made his advertising and fashion pictures. In 1931-1932, he created a large series Kazimierz nad Wisłą, considered to be the first photographic document in Poland. However, the material was printed as late as in 1960, with selected highlights being shown only at the artist`s retrospective the same year. Dorys continued to work after the war, being an active animator and organiser of artistic life. In 1926, he joined the Polish Photographers` Association. He also co-founded ZPAF (1947), the Warsaw Photographic Association and the Photographic Section of ZAiKS.

Portrecista wybitnych postaci Warszawy i fotograf reklamowy. Interesował się także pejzażem, architekturą, aktem. Fotografią zajmował się od 1914 roku, wystawiał od 1927. Pierwszą wystawę indywidualną miał w 1930 roku. W 1929 roku otworzył atelier fotograficzne w Warszawie, gdzie wykonywał portrety znanych postaci kultury i sztuki polskiej oraz zdjęcia reklamowe i mody. W latach 1931-1932 powstaje duży cykl reportażowy „Kazimierz nad Wisłą” 1931-1932, uważany za pierwszy reportaż fotograficzny w Polsce. Materiał ten został skopiowany jednak dopiero w 1960 roku, a jego cześć pokazana na retrospektywnej wystawie artysty w tymże roku. Czynny również po wojnie. Aktywny działacz i organizator życia artystycznego. Od 1926 działał aktywnie w Polskim Towarzystwie Miłośników Fotografii, współzałożyciel ZPAF, Warszawskiego Towarzystwa Fotograficznego, Sekcji Fotograficznej ZAIKS.
